The PTS recognizes and celebrates individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the success of the Society and the profession through their leadership, service, and scholarship.

“RAO IVATURY” AWARD

Nomination Criteria:

  • Nominations must be submitted by a member of the Executive Committee.
  • The candidate must be recognized as a Master Surgeon.
  • The candidate must have over 30 years of experience as a distinguished leader in trauma surgery.
  • The candidate must have made significant contributions to education in the field.
  • The candidate must be recognized at local, national, and international levels.
  • The candidate must have demonstrated excellence across all areas of trauma surgery, including:
      • Extensive and impactful publications.
      • Active membership in the SPT for at least 20 years.
      • Participation in at least 15 annual SPT meetings.
      • A representative role in SPT Committees or Subcommittees.

Selection Process:

  • The candidate’s eligibility will be verified based on the established criteria.
  • A complete curriculum vitae (CV) will be requested for evaluation.
  • The final selection will be determined by a vote of the Executive Committee.

Award Frequency:

  • The award will be granted every five years when a candidate meeting all criteria is identified.

“THOMAS SCALEA” AWARD

Nomination Criteria:

  • Nominations must be submitted by an active member of the PTS.
  • The candidate must be an active member of the PTS.
  • The candidate must have completed formal training within the past 10 years.
  • The candidate must demonstrate outstanding merit in at least one of the following areas:
      • Teaching
      • Clinical practice
      • Research
      • Academia
      • Leadership
      • Mentoring

Selection Process:

  • The PTS Secretary will verify that nominees meet the eligibility criteria.
  • Eligible candidates will be invited to submit their curriculum vitae (CV) for review.
  • The final selection will be determined by a vote of the Executive Committee.
  • All nominees will be acknowledged, and the award recipient will be publicly recognized during the SPT Annual Assembly.

Award Frequency:

  • The award will be presented annually.

“CRISTIANE DOMINGUES” NURSING AWARD

Nomination Criteria

  • The candidate must hold a Bachelor of Nursing degree.
  • Must have over 10 years of experience as a distinguished leader in trauma nursing.
  • Nominations must be submitted by the SPT Nursing Committee.
  • Must have been an active member of the PTS for at least five years.
  • Must have attended at least five annual PTS meetings.
  • Must have served in a representative role within SPT Committees or Subcommittees.
Must have made significant contributions in at least one of the following areas:
      • Teaching, Academia, or Lecturing
      • Clinical Practice
      • Research
      • Publications
      • Leadership
Must have recognition at local, national, and international levels.

Selection Process

  • The PTS Secretary will contact eligible nominees to submit their curriculum vitae (CV).
  • After verifying that all requirements are met, the Executive Committee will conduct a vote.
  • All nominees will be acknowledged, and the award recipient will be publicly recognized during the SPT Annual Assembly.

Award Frequency

  • The award will be presented every five years.
